I was seven months pregnant and it was one month before Jasper came home for a month. My bump was extremely noticeable by that point, and I was getting excited to see the baby. Esme joined me to the twenty-eight week scan, and Jasper accompanied us on Skype. I laid on the couch, and giggled at the baby's responsive kicking to Carlisle's gentle hands.
"Baby likes you," I smiled, and Carlisle laughed. Jasper was watching silently. I watched the baby shape move as I felt it and smiled.
"It's very active today," Carlisle commented.
"Maybe it's excited to see it's mommy," Jasper smiled. I giggled.
"I can tell you the gender if you want to know," Carlisle told me. I squealed, looking over at Jasper. He knew I'd love to find out the gender, but I wasn't sure about him.
"I want to know," Jasper smiled, and blew a kiss to me. Carlisle moved the scanner a bit, pressing down slightly and making me wince.
"It's a little girl," Carlisle told us. I squealed with excitement.
"A little girl!!" I clapped my hands, and Jasper smiled lovingly. I smiled at Jasper, "Our baby girl."
Carlisle printed a picture of the scan, and it became my profile picture on Facebook. Jasper liked it and commented with "I love you."
Rosalie took me dress shopping with Rebbie, who also needed a dress for the wedding. Rosalie wanted to get some other things for the wedding as well. We looked for my dress first, and I tried on three different dresses. The first was pale pink with one shoulder and flowers running down it, similar to Rebbie's princess dress I made. Then I tried on a long purple dress with small sparkles all over. Rebbie loved the third, a sky blue dress where the ends were in flowing tendrils. Rosalie and Rebbie both told me to get the blue dress, and I agreed.
Rosalie kindly paid for the dress after she wouldn't let me pay for it myself. While Rebbie tried on her dresses I had to sit down, as my back was hurting and I was getting stomach cramps.
When Rosalie wanted to get some other things for the wedding, she told Rebbie to sit with me and keep me company. She sat next to me, my stomach too big for her to sit on my knee, and put her hands on my bump.
"I feel her moving," she giggled, "Hello baby cousin. I'm your big cousin Rebbie and I love you lots and lots."
I smiled and kissed my niece's cheek, "She likes you."
Rebbie giggled, and I winced as the baby kicked hard, "Oww. Baby kicked me hard."
I rubbed where the baby kicked gently, and Rebbie stroked my stomach.
"Don't hurt Auntie Alice, baby cousin," she smiled, "Can she come out now?"
Giggling, I shook my head, "Not yet, she still needs to get bigger, sweetie."
Rebbie sighed a bit, then rested her hands on my bump and whispered, "Grow quickly, I want to see you."
I smiled and hugged her close, and then I had an idea. I stood up slowly, rubbing my back and taking Rebbie's hand. I took my phone from my pocket, and found Rosalie's number.
"Would you like to come and buy some baby clothes with me?" I asked, and Rebbie nodded eagerly, "I need to phone your mommy first."
I informed Rose that we were going to the baby store, and that we would meet her at the car. Rebbie walked patiently beside me as we made our way to the baby store. I spent at least one hundred dollars on little dresses and hats and baby suits, and also bought a stroller and some diapers to be prepared. I had to call Rosalie to help me carry the stroller back to the car.
Esme stayed over at my house for a lot of the time, so she could check on me as I'd been getting pains. She was worried, because of my size, that there was a chance the baby could arrive early. She often took me shopping for more baby clothes, and she bought me a crib and painted the baby's room for me. I bought a closet, and it was full as soon as we took it home and filled it with clothes.
"Jasper," I smiled as my husband's face appeared on my laptop screen. He chuckled.
"How are you feeling? You look exhausted," he asked, and I rubbed my eyes.
"I can't sleep, the baby kicks too much," I giggled and then stood up, pulling up my top, "Look how huge I am."
"Still beautiful," Jasper smiled proudly. I gasped and winced, sitting down and stroking my stomach.
"Are you alright?" he looked alarmed. I nodded slowly.
"I get pains sometimes. Maybe she wants to get out," I giggled, rubbing my bump where I could feel strong kicks. Jasper smiled and let out a sigh of relief.
"I can't wait to see you. Only a few weeks now. When's the baby due?" Jasper asked.
"I'm seven months now. Twenty-nine weeks. The baby's due near my birthday," I smiled.
"My birthday present for you," Jasper laughed. I raised an eyebrow.
"A lovely, hideously painful present," I giggled, "But with a little baby at the end of it."
